What are the consequences of a culture?

Today we are again three weeks in Uganda. We feel this is true because we are again quite well established and have a lot of people know. Time to the terrace, in the heat, just to tell you what concerns us. Currently our time actually be divided into three task areas. Firstly, there are things that need to be for us (temporary) residence. We had internet problems, we had a tax number to have a car to put our name and moved to stay a little further. Then there is the work in the orphanage. As we said in the newsletter is for the children involved in the writing of several plans and associated proposals for sponsorship. Baukje is working with the Dutch embassy to contribute to the school that is coming. I am working on a plan for a guest house in the children and of course the playground!
Finally, we are naturally concerned with the long term. We visit projects and people which we can learn and look good to us. We see many opportunities for companies to put in a similar way as we saw in Ethiopia. Within this we will create an opportunity to invest in people. Many people here in our little miss. Often practical skills but also something deeper. At first glance this seems the most Christian country in the world. Almost everyone calls himself a Christian or "born again". We meet many people that this is reflected in a fertile and changed life. Unfortunately this is not for everyone. Most people here live by the culture that often in conflict with God's principles and we believe that the basis of much misery. It becomes us also increasingly clear that the only culture that does the culture of God's Kingdom. Let me explain this a little further.
What you put on it, we can probably all agree that the Netherlands
Originally a Christian country. The consequence of this is that our country is still for a large part based is on Biblical standards and values. For example, is partly our culture has developed. If you look in the context of the world can you think I can say that the Netherlands is quite successful. Originally biblical values such as "do not lie and steal", is what really stands behind every Dutchman. You could almost say that it is innate and nothing to do with culture or God has to do. The opposite will you see when you're here. The roots of many cultures are not in the Bible or the God of the Bible. Lying is bad, and some do not steal is only bad if someone else has seen or if it can be proven. Otherwise it may. Fortunately there are many people that this is not true but from the culture is still often the norm. Some people hear often that we are not allowed to come to a different culture. "This is good according to the people here" and that "inherent factor in their culture" sounds you hear. Personally we have our doubts here yet received after everything we've seen. We all know that things like honesty and trust are essential building blocks for a functioning society? We will never claim that everyone should take over the Dutch culture. We see the last time, however, a new way that success is mainly reserved for people and cultures that live by the principles of God's Kingdom. These principles can teach anyone but the only way to really fill your life is through a personal relationship with Jesus. Then give him the maximum opportunity to bless you in everything, because He loves you so much. We want to give people like a job, train them and they share it with. Then we believe that we do what we are called. That way we want and we are even a bit busy with the first steps for a company. Still something also from another location would be workable. This some more next time.
Oh, you are a member of our newsletter? Sometimes overlaps with some information with the blog, but we try here also a lot of news into!

What a wonderful revelation, Gerard .. Not received from books or theories, but by God's Spirit!
I can imagine that the mountain always seems bigger. You can not change a whole country on your own or rewrite entire cultures .. but remember that 2000 years ago, only 12 were the whole world upside down have put. Can not own, but by the power and insight of the Holy Spirit .. (Also "Christian" Netherlands looked very different when
)
You might have already heard many people say, but: stay satisfied! "Plan" quality time in .. that's your foundation and the source from where you put so much already. Gerard and Baukje, you are fantastic. Maybe there is a long distance between us, but know that we stand behind you.
Love,
Wiebrand
